7 Creative Ways to Celebrate Mother's Day at Home

This article is being written during a global pandemic, thus it’s meant to provide ideas to celebrate Mother’s Day at home if your mother or the mother of your children lives with you. For those whose mother does not live with them, click here for ways to celebrate mom while social distancing.

1. Put together a scavenger hunt with clues that lead her to a sweet gift!

This idea will take some sneaking around and planning, but it’s such a fun way to celebrate and make her feel special.

2. Make her breakfast in bed.

Cliche? Maybe, but what mom wouldn’t love to have her breakfast served to her in bed? Whether you’re cooking it for her or ordering takeout, she’ll love it.

3. Clean the house for her and take over all her usual duties for the day.

Whatever momma’s usual duties are around the house, tell her you (and maybe the kids too?) will be taking over all her duties for the day so she can relax. (Hint: if acts of service is her love language, she’ll especially love this one!)

4. Spoil her with a special brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Maybe she won’t love breakfast in bed but she would love a nice brunch, lunch, or dinner meal shared together with your live-in family. Set the table as fancy as you can and pull out all the stops! Don’t let her help with cleanup, either.

5. Buy her flowers, of course.

You can hardly ever go wrong with flowers—unless she’s allergic, then go with a sweet trinket or creative gift instead.

6. Put together a spa day for her and pamper her to the max!

We’re talking foot massages, back rubs, face masks, manis and pedis, candles, fluffy robe and slippers. She deserves the relaxation!

7. Does she love camping? Have a backyard or living room campout.

For the outdoorsy mothers, have an at-home camping trip complete with s’mores, hot dogs, a tent, and maybe even a crackling fire if you have a fire pit.
